An acceptance letter gets a student onto the plane. What happens after landing decides whether the first weeks go smoothly: who meets them at the airport, where they sleep the first night, who takes them through registration and the residence permit. Dev/Soy is a consultancy based in Nicosia, and this is the part we take on, for students and for the agencies that send them.
Why the arrival stage matters
Most of the problems we see do not start at the application. They start in the first weeks on the island: a student who arrives without a place to stay, a registration deadline that slips, a residence permit file that stalls because one document is missing. Each of these turns into a late-night call to the agency back home, and into a worried family.
An agency abroad cannot fix these from thousands of kilometres away. A partner on the ground can. That is the role we play: the agency keeps the relationship with the student and the family, and we handle what has to be done in person in North Cyprus.
Who does what
We handle
- Application to the university and follow-up until the official decision
- Visa and entry paperwork, including the documents the student travels with
- Airport pickup on arrival
- Taking the student to campus and through registration
- First accommodation: we help arrange a place for the first period, such as a student residence or guesthouse
- Residence permit file: online application, health report appointment and fee tracking
The student covers
- Flight ticket, booked by the student or family
- Accommodation and living costs, paid by the student
- Official fees set by the authorities (residence permit, health report)
- Tuition, paid to the university after the official pre-approval
The arrival, step by step
- Before departure: the file is readyWe check the student's documents before the flight is booked. The acceptance letter, passport and supporting papers travel with the student; an incomplete file is the single biggest cause of delay later.
- Landing: someone is waitingWe meet the student at the airport. Nobody arrives in a country they have never seen and has to work out the rest alone.
- First accommodationWe help arrange where the student stays for the first period, so they are not searching for a room in their first days. The student pays for it; we make sure it is arranged before they arrive.
- University registrationWe take the student to campus and through registration. Registration has to be completed within 2 months of entry, and the residence permit application depends on it.
- Residence permitWe prepare the online application to the Immigration Department, schedule the health report and track the fee and the file until the permit is ready to collect.
- After that: renewalsThe student permit is renewed every academic year. We keep track of it so it does not become a surprise.
One rule families appreciate
No payment is made before the student has an official document from the university. The application is free, the university issues its decision first, and only then does the tuition payment step begin. For a family sending a child abroad for the first time, this is often the sentence that builds trust.
What this means for agencies
- Zero cost to your agency. You keep your own consultancy fee; we do not touch it.
- One contact on the island for your students, reachable on WhatsApp.
- Fewer emergencies landing on your desk in the first weeks.
- A clearer promise to families: you can tell them exactly who meets their child and who handles the paperwork.
What we do not promise
Honesty saves everyone time, so a few things we will not say. We do not guarantee the outcome of any official decision; the university and the authorities decide. Official fees and requirements change, so we confirm the current amounts in writing for each student instead of quoting figures from memory. And we describe ourselves as what we are: a partner working with the university and the student, not an exclusive representative.
Have a student, or want to work together?
Send us the student's results and a passport copy and we will tell you which programmes fit, what the next step is and what the student needs to bring. Agencies looking for a partner on the ground in North Cyprus can reach us directly on WhatsApp.
